DESCRIPTION
Nowhere is learning more dramatic than in the way a child learns to speak and communicate. This program shows how we acquire and cultivate language—perhaps the greatest hallmark of being human. Viewers learn how, in adults, the language center of the brain resides in the left hemisphere, while most children respond to verbalization with their entire brains. The film also describes how seizures such as those resulting from epilepsy and Rasmussen’s syndrome have a devastating effect on brain development in some children. Distributed by PBS Distribution.
